What is it about water?
I have always wished I could breath underwater, and to float midway between the wavelets and the sand. (Scuba diving can get you both these things but the amount of gear makes you feel more like you are watching the fish swim by from the window of your car rather than swimming with them.) Suspended and weightless in the fluid that defines so much of what we are as organisms. Drink it, swim in it, float on it, dance in it as it falls, or soak in a hot tub of it. Water is good stuff.
We are all drawn down to that wide, wide sea, despite the fact that it will kill you. Salt to leach the moisture from your cells, water to drown you, waves to wrench you off your feet, sun to burn you, and that feint whiff of decaying fish swept in on the breeze. But that much water is too beautiful a thing. I must heed its call.
