Glum Ponderings at 3 in the Morning

I really get the feeling that with the end of last season, the fandom used the summer break to build up this fictitious version of Heroes in their head that was all rock all the time and so completely perfect and wonderful, flawless from the very get-go. There's just so much complaining in all the reactions I see, and so far as I can tell nothing has changed--actually, this is a hell of a lot better and more interesting than the season and arc-opening wind-up we got last year, but everyone still keeps griping about how weak and lame it supposedly is and when is it finally going to start getting interesting again and when are Nathan and Peter going to get chemistry again because the show is empty without that* and so on and so forth. People, even Babylon 5's Season 3 had a slow start, and I regard Babylon 5's Season 3 as one of the most glorious things to ever happen on television.

It doesn't help that azarias has reminded me that the producers are monitoring fan reaction really closely and adapting the story to suit it (they have a stated policy of killing off the characters the audience doesn't "click" with, something worth considering the next time you want to gripe about how so-and-so died), and I'm just envisioning this incredibly fun little spiral where the very people complaining bitterly about how boring and stupid the show is now manage to completely tank it by season 3.

And I still haven't fixed my readability issues.

I think I'll go back to bed.

* Not joking.

ETA: Spoilers through the latest episode (2x06 The Line) in the comments.
