My man is leaving for Iraq sometime soon, and I've put in a time-off request at my work and they turned it down! (Don't worry, they don't know the date, cause even I don't! I just have a time line thing of when he would be leaving

Yes unfortunately you are correct. As a girlfriend there are no rights or laws because a girlfriend has no legal status.

When my husband and I were dating we had the same issue. I couldn't get time off and there was nothing I could do about it. Seriously frustrating!
