I know this isn't really a political community... but i love politics and the political comms don't really care about the view of military spouses.

I know he likes to make his case that he cares about dependents. But I had NEVER heard the story behind ( Read more... )

I didn't see the commercials, so I can't speak for that.

But I have noticed that McCain seems to be using the military to get what he wants. I'm not sure if he really cares about us or our men, or if he just cares about winning the presidency. It's almost like he doesn't have to try because he was a POW, and he will get the votes from the military community because of that. While I think he is a great war hero, I don't necessarily believe that will automatically make him a great president.

Just my 2 cents.

And just to add on to that. I like that I don't hear Obama talking about the military every time I turn around. McCain seems to talk about it a lot, trying appealing to the patriotic American.

In the end, whoever is going to win, is going to win (duh), and whatever is going to happen, is going to happen. I don't like the military to be used as political pawns.

I agree. I definitely respect that fact that he was a war hero and all the things he went through. But that's not a good enough reason to make someone president. He needs to be talking about the present and the future, not the past.

Throughout this grueling presidential race, all 3 of the candidates (including Hillary here, even though she's out) have made public speaking blunders. They have messed up and misspoke (McCain gets basic facts on the ground in Iraq wrong, Hillary's sniper fire in Bosnia). I personally don't hold any of that against any of them.

All of the candidates have been traveling non-stop, making speech after speech, little rest, insane schedules and stops... they are all bound to trip up. And, they all have, in one way or another. It is a tiring process, and it doesn't surprise me in the least when any of them have blunders. They are human, and I don't think any of us could face campaign rigors and not make a mistake here and there.
