Desert Island Meme
My friend John asked me what my top five albums would be if I was packing for a desert island (and you know, this desert island magically has CD players and batteries-or possibly a wind or water turbine). Since he asked me two weeks ago, I’ve been thinking about it and asking everyone I know. So I decided to make a meme.

5 Books (I’m saying an omnibus counts as one book)
5 Personal Items (in order of importance)
Of course it would be nice to have some handy people along too, like someone who could identify/grow edible plants, a fisher-person, a medical doctor, a cook, a carpenter (Amish would probably be best since power tools seem unlikely). I’m already an engineer-type, so that would be covered. This is just getting silly so I’ll stop now.

- The Hitchhiker’s Giude to the Galaxy omnibus
- Barbara Kingsolver, The Poisonwood Bible
- Billy Collins, Saling Alone around the Room and Other Poems
- Ovid, Metamorphosis or maybe a How-To book that could describe things like how to weave, how to make glue, etc...
5 Personal Items (in order of importance)
- lighter
- one of those über-Leatherman tools that I could use to help build things (like the equipment I’d need to make paper once that ran out)
- a pot/pan for cooking or collecting water
- a pack of pens
- a nice thick journal
