Something of an audit, Miss Victoria has asked me to inform her as to where the holes in her force are, so I've been taking a look at how it operates. As morbid as this may sound, the recent string of crime has done well to inform me who mobilizes to assess the threats.

Really? Interesting. I was informed that I had been a member of the force previously, but it's interesting to be called a current members 'predecessor'. After all, my absence was the type that removes all memory of the City. If I need any information on your unit, I will be sure and contact you.

Well, the previous you here had been the first leader of Special Assault when it started out. But people returning without memories of the city is probably more common than returning with them.
This place can sometimes take some getting used to, but it's always helpful to have someone familiar from home here. Depending on the person.

What is Special Assault's objective? By that I mean, what kind of cases do they take and how do they get involved in an alternate way than a regular department?
There are a few people here from my home that I'd rather weren't here at all, but having the Lieutenant here was . . . definitely beneficial.

Special Assault is the division sent in during dangerous cases or special situations where more firepower is required. Examples would include us being sent into a possibly booby-trapped crime scene that was too dangerous for regular field intel or when we were deployed during that curse where monsters attacked the city.
So this is the unit where the more combat-oriented -- either physically or magically-- officers are often assigned. However, most of us do continue with the duties of a regular officer, showing up at crime scenes, going on patrol, etc.
The city does seem to bring in a lot of familiar faces, both good and bad. Hopefully more good, in most cases.

Understood. I'm glad that such a unit is present in the City, I imagine your specialty comes up often. That said, when was the last time you deployed a unit to a specifically Special Assault incident? The monster curse?

That sounds about right, we don't get deployed en mass very often as that would be overkill in most cases. There may have been a few prison transfer cases since then, as we're more or less set-up as the official escort since the Blitza incident.
