Thank you so much for this question! Please check out this site:
www.eternalreefs.com/about/faq.html I love the idea of being able to nourish the marine environment with my body. I'd like to donate whatever organs the medical profession will accept, and then, poof, up in smoke and over the starboard side!
Other things that appeal to me are:
- Nobody can exhume my remains
- Nobody has to pay money to mow the grass over my grave
- Nobody has to travel distances to "pay their respects"
...and any other factor that would make someone reject land burial or conventional "urn" cremation.
My biggest question is where? I wouldn't mind the Tennessee River, but don't know if there are restrictions. I suppose any threatened marine or aquatic environment would be acceptable.
I hope this option becomes better known to more people.
One or two people on this site know me personally. So...if you ever hear that I croaked, PLEASE print this out and bring it to my next of kin so they'll honor the request. I can easily picture them "forgetting," despite my frequent hectoring on the subject.
Srsly.
Thanks!
