It was a beautiful, sunny day outside. Which made the very dark glasses that Professor Blenner was wearing nothing out of the ordinary. And, okay, perhaps he was sticking to the shadier parts of the park. But, that could have been out of consideration for his
companion.
Yesterday afternoon, Blenner had handwavily found out what Lucy had been so secretive about all week. When Elizabeth decided to bestow gifts, she didn't fool around.
"Looks like it's still good to be Queen," he said, reaching down to stroke said gift's sleek, black neck. The horse gave a quiet nicker and tossed its head as they continued their ramble through the park.
"Although, this does rather defeat any attempts to keep a low profile as a humble history teacher."
He'd said as much to Lucy. She'd merely rolled her eyes that he'd be much happier if he stopped trying to hide the fact that he was the sort of person whose back was made to be pressed up against walls during revolutions.
And, then you would turn around and berate the howling mob for the wall's shoddy construction before ordering them to polish your boots. Lucy had added with a sniff And, they'd do it, too.
And, Blenner, from his comfortable, mobile, and oh so familiar perch couldn't really say that Lucy had been wrong...
