Walking around town
Alec was one of those that had to know his surroundings. It helped to know hiding places and possible exits if Manticore ever came back, or Ames and that damn cult of his. He needed to know how to keep Rachel safe because he couldn't let anything happen to her. So in order to do that he decided to walk through town, find the stores and figure out how the hell he was going to get his tryptophan in this place. He really didn't want to deal with the seizures, and he knew Rachel would be better for the wear if she didn't have to either.
