AtLA/SG-1: Device pieces

Nov 30, 2006 15:19

You know the device Shinnouhi-sama mentioned last entry? Well, Kat's been Googling, and she's figured out which part of the world each piece was placed in, based on the climate in the location. >.>

The device is shaped like a lotus flower, with a stainless steel centre and eight "petals". Tau'ri's device has its Point of Origin symbol on the exact centre of the centrepiece, but we still don't know what symbol the Mizutsuchi-Hikaze device has on it. There's a specified slot for each "petal", indicated by the Kanji character for the element the "petal" represents.

The diagonal petals are the four primary elements, Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. The other four are the "auxillary" elements, as Kat calls them; secondary forces that Benders can control. For instance, Waterbenders are also able to control Ice, so Ice is Water's auxillary. The other auxillaries are Crystals (Earth), Lightning (Fire), and Mist (Air).

The primary "petals" are made of semi-precious and precious gemstones; the auxillary petals are quartz, each tinted a different colour.

Centrepiece: Found offworld, along with Mokona's creation myth.

Water Petal: Sapphire; at the bottom of Lake Michigan in Chicago.

Ice Petal: Blue-tinted quartz; Originally buried with the 'Gate in Antarctica; recovered by Sam

Earth Petal: Emerald; buried in a temple in Abydos, Egypt.

Crystal Petal: Green-tinted quartz; buried among the crystals in the giant geode in Almeria, Spain.

Fire Petal: Garnet; On the big island of Hawaii, buried near the volcano

Lightning Petal: Red-tinted quartz; London, Canada (according to Ask.com, that's the city with the most lightning storms per year.)

Air Petal: Topaz; Somewhere in the Himalayas. Probably near Tibet, which would be oddly appropriate, given that the Air Nomads take after the Tibetan Buddhists.

Mist Petal: Yellow-tinted quartz; somewhere in Ireland, since Ask.com didn't seem to want to give us an answer when we asked them what part of the world was the mistiest.

This is all for the second part, of course; Kat's waiting for the season finale of AtLA to work on the first part.

Since Sam already has the Ice Petal and Daniel found the centre piece, the plan is for Daniel to place the Ice Petal back in its slot before they head out, which causes all of the other petals to send out a signal of sort, which will allow the group to track all of the pieces down.

Aaand since that's about it for the technological parts, I'm outta here.
