Well, I still haven't found the uneaten twist-tie, and I have not been diligently searching to see if it passed, and Chani is still behaving completely normally, so I can only shrug and assume that 1) predators have evolved to eat thin strips of metal OR 2) Murphy's law is about to kick in.
