notes: done impulsively. i was browsing the sasusaku month challenges, and i thought to write for a few minutes. so here's the end result. still did not betaed, though, so feel free to dissect and stab the drabble.
He does not see the smudges of caked mud and coagulated blood on her face. He does not see the cropped rose-hair, the determined scowl on her lips. His befuddled mind hardly registers the green flare of her hands over the myriad of wounds over his ribs and the angry threats from her mouth.
This scenario has played many times before. It does not matter where they stand, either together in the apposing sides or far apart from opposing end of the front lines.
Sakura is a constant fixture to his side.
And whenever Sakura heals him, a memory flickers, supposed to be buried beneath the haze of pain, but grows clearer with every drawing of breath bringing him closer to death.
Images of faded blue skies and grey fog swirls. Pink veils and watery green eyes.The hard grasp of slightly callused hands, clutching in helplessness. His name whispered in drowning sobs before they end with a desperate cry in between his dying gasps.
A ragged cough is the only warning he gets before she leans forward and collapses. Her body curls to him, her breathing following the rise and fall of his chest.
The damp drops are warm, drenching the newly patched cold flesh.
Sasuke feels sick.
He lets out a short, broken gasp.
No one should feel so content when someone weeps for you.
