Two weekends in a row where I actually stayed in town. WHOOT! It was nice.
Friday
Friday was one of those days where the whole time I was at work should have been labeled "Emergency by extrinsic forces." I didn't get anything done that I planned. I was working non-stop for about 11 hours straight. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't fun either.
That night though was open gym volleyball with friends. My leg is doing pretty well, and I was able to play for 2 whole hours with little difficulty. After that, the group of us went to Crew Sports Bar for drinks and it turns out they were doing "Rocky Horror" that night.
I was not copping a feel of his butt... I swear.
(okay maybe just once)
It was busy and packed so after a few drinks we went across the street and got Chinese food. A nice way to end the week.
Saturday
I dropped my car off early in the morning to get the brake rotors fixed as well as taking care of a burnt out headlight. John and cleaned up a bit, and decided to make homemade fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits, buttermilk mashed potatoes and mixed greens with garlic for dinner. It was all delicious.
Hot out of the dutch oven, this recipe involved a bit more corn starch than I thought.
Reminded me of the smooth tempura batter Mom used to make.
Everything was delicious and I went to bed still in a food coma.
Sunday
Today has been a mix of work and fun. The morning started off with John and I heading out to the burbs to meet up some friends for a large group brunch at a place called Villa Olivia out in Bartlett.
