Despite the dragging economy, my firm has made it to its sixth year! To celebrate, every year we always throw a big party for clients, and some select family/friends.
We will eat, drink and be merry.
Our clients show up right from work. Because our party is on a weeknight the crowd starts to thin out around 8pm as people start heading home. Some of us stay fairly late, and as last year shows occasionally there may be a game or two of flippy cup tucked away in a back office.

Some silliness from last year's party.
The firm hired me the month after it opened its doors for business, and I can't believe I've been here this long! On reflection, this is now the longest period of time I've been with the same job (six years this coming January). My prior record was 5.5 years, when I started working for the University of Chicago Hospitals in their transplant surgery program right after I graduated from college. I thought I would only stay with that job for a year or two, but ended up staying full time while I took night law classes. It was only when I graduated from law school that I quit. After that, I work at a different law firm for about five years before switching to my current shop. I tend not to skip around jobs very much.
Regarding the 6th Anniversary party next month, I suspect it will not be as wild as the parties we had the first few years. That being said, if the crowd clears up early, I should make sure I have some extra bottles of wine in my desk just in case some of us hang around a bit for a night cap or two. Heee!
