Snow Day!

Dec 08, 2009 23:41

Southern Wisconsin is getting hit with a huge snow storm. We are in an official "A State Of Emergency", declared by our Governor earlier this evening. The Sheriff has been on TV telling us to stay home. I have the Blizzard Warning red marker on my weather gadget for the first time ever. It is going to get very windy. They are even promising thunder & lightning later. Current prediction is 13 - 14 inches, which would be the biggest I have seen here in 20 years.

We have gotten about 4 inches so far. We had light snow since last night. Now it is begging to get windy and the snow rate has gone up a bunch. It is absolutely beautiful out. Like a post card.

We are all home safe. Both schools already canceled tomorrow. We are turning the alarm clocks off and sleeping late. Wheee!!! A free day off.

On nights like this I always wonder how tough you had to be to live here when it was Hunter Gatherer tribes using stone age technology. I wouldn't want to be in a tent or hut tonight. Or tomorrow night when it is supposed to go down to -4F (-20C) with strong winds.
