Okay, I know, it's been 4 months. Sorry. I'm still alive, however, which brings me to my livejournal once again. Well...that and the fact I've got so much free time I'm beginning to get bored doubled with my new years eve experience... So. Let me get to the juicy facts.
Alright, I came home this Christmas break w/o any plans, (mostly because of my hasty departure from school) other than to get my hair cut sometime and get my show funded for production (well I got my hair cut anyway...). So christmas came and I got to see a few family members. It really dampened my spirits that this was the first year less than 80% of my extended family weren't in town. In fact, this year there were probably less than 20% around :-(. This is due to my grandparents passing on in the past year. Everyone used to have the parties at their house (4 doors away from mine). So there was that sad thought creeping back into my head again after being subdued by school for so long. It was shaping up to be the most depressing Christmas break I've ever had.
I went to the home of my cousin, Colin, to hang out and smoke up some Christmas fun. This was probably the monday after christmas. anyway, he and his wife, Christine, are candy kids. They're all about going out to raves and rolling and...oh, uh some of you reading this might not know what these words mean... Colin, Christine and all of their roommates/friends get decked out in candy before going raving (candy just refers to the rainbor-colored beaded jewelry they cover themselves with). And "rolling"?... um. that's doing ex.
...So! back to the story... I went to Colin's place and he told me of a rave party on New Year's Eve. I hadn't even thought about planning for New Year's Eve. So I got myself a ticket to go.
As far as I'm concerned, the actual event was going to be just okay. I didn't really know what to expect at this place. So I was sitting around his house with his friends drinking some champagne all ready to go. Everyone had on theirt-shirts in layers upon layers of candy while i was sitting there in my crisp-looking button-down and jeans. Well when we got there I actually didn't feel I looked out of place. The Rave, (the name of the venue of the rave party) was huge. I never went there before, though they're always playing major rock bands. This place was only using two of its seven floors and there were still about 7 or 8 stages playing at once.
The music was all just as good as I knew it would be. I'm a closet electronica junky, i must say. I split up with Colin to explore the place. There was always something incredible for me to liquid to. Of course, now seeing all of those people liquiding like they're professionals made me a little insecure. people were breakdancing, liquiding, or just bouncing to the beat. Most of them were in their own worlds, probably rolling. It got close to the countdown, so I went back to see Colin. He handed me a tiny pill and told me to crack it with my teeth and swallow it all. I secretly also have really wanted to try E. I almost knew with certainty that I'd be rolling that night anyway, so I'd been drinking a lot of water. It was about 10 minutes to the countdown when I took the pill. I cheered at the main stage with the thousands of other cheering voices as Christine traded candy with some faded candy girl. The countdown came very suddenly as everyone yelled out the last 13 or so seconds. There was a brief pause in the music as the DJ introduced the midnight performance, and - wham - the new DJ began spinning a kick-ass beat. Hell-yeah, I thought. This was way better than chanpagne and cookies at aunt Margaret's house.
I took my leave of the mainstage to get another water ($3 !?!). I downed it like air and stepped into one of the small stages on the first level. I decided to liquid and work on my moves. About 5-45 minutes passed as I danced. A girl began cheering me on. and a few others joined in too (whether they were cheering for me or just cheering "woot woot!" for the hell of it i'll never know). I couldn't believe it. I had barely broken a sweat, didn't feel tired and I'd been dencing for well over an hour. The feeling of the crowd. the vibrations of the music pumping through me. I didn't give a flying fuck what anyone thought of me because I was having the best feeling of my entire life. Rapture...and then even more bliss. I decided that I might not want to make all of my own decisions under that condition so I looked around the place for Colin again. I was smiling so brightly. I was happy everyone I saw was there. I encouraged the good dancers and the bad ones too. I said hi to cute girls and just felt amazing. I bumped into this guy, Chad i think his name was along with Colin's roommate, Ryan. Ryan told him it was my first party and my first time rolling. Chad asked me how I felt. "Amazing" I said. I couldn't even express what I felt. he brought his hand up in a tight gesture above my head and shook it. I kind of looked at him like "what's going on?" and he brushed his hand through my hair. I felt something rolling down my back or something. Chad's hands were massaging my temples as he went on, "Are you familiar with Shiatsu or pressure points? I study those..." The feeling of the rolling on my back continued and i realized it was Ryan giving me a back rub while chad was working on my head.
Oh my god... it was incredible
wow.
So that was what it was like for me to roll. the feeling lasted until about 2:30. The rest of the night I continued to be in a great mood because of the after effects. I had so much fun. I grabbed a couple cd's from the djs. I walked around with this girl named Jeci. She had been introduced to me such as chad had been. she also gave me a brief head massage. She had me follow her around looking for people. I danced with her a while and we moved on again. until about 4:30 when we chilled until the place closed down. At 5:00 am we left the Rave and returned to Colin's place for the after party in his "rave cave". That's what he calls it when he blocks out all sunlight through the windows and turns on some drum and bass. He gave me another pill and some bumps. then he took me on a plane-ride. For any of my friends out there who don't know what that is, I'll give you one sometime. It's a roll-trick - an experience-enhancing ride.
I slept for a pretty long time. Got some Webbs. Saw Chapelle's show and Tenacious D's show. And it was good. I stayed the following night because I was still pretty faded. this morning I came back from a party that began two days ago. My brother was packing and then he took off to chicago. He's going to be living with my sister there for the rest of high school. (long story).
Well now that my brother's gone I've got the car for as long as i want. probably through summer. And life is good.
Thank you all for still reading my journal just in case. :-) I've got to get some sleep.
