I've been running around my different social websites to post this link on today:
http://www.usmemorialday.org/ Some of the sections were down when I tried them, but I was able to get to the history, the petition to make it a May 30th holiday no matter when it falls like it was in the past, and the transcripts for what past presidents have said on this day.
My husband's family is currently out cleaning graves. I have no idea where the graveyard in my new hometown is, but I will see if I can find it in the next year. One thing I noticed while wandering through the graveyard of our last hometown, is that some graves are very clearly marked as former military. As much as I think all graves should be taken care of, today's special remembrance is for the armed forces.
3:00 PM local time is when President Clinton asked for us to give one minute of our day to the remembrance and prayers for soldiers, so that is my plan for wherever I am. Which reminds me, I should set an alarm for it since I will probably be at the Living Aquarium at that time.
*sets alarm*
