I still can't bring myself to listen to much hip-hop short of doing my best to ignore the rap and listen to the music. I try to run in the producer circles so that all I listen to is instrumentals, before the rap is laid down.

I am pretty sure you can handle "After the Rain" and I think it will expand your concept of where you can go with things.
Better Dayz is a follow-up, and although it might not be as palatable i think it ties in and will give you a bit of another angle.

I think the fact that K2S incorporated such out of norm (for Rap/R&B) music as Kansas' "Dust in the wind" and J.S. Bach into their beats is just a reminder of what can be done.
I also credit Eminem for doing similar stuff with "Stop, what's that sound, etc." Just showing what can be done with a little vision expanding outside the scope.
