Mikayla's Birthday

Sep 30, 2011 12:20

Yesterday was Mikayla's birthday. She turned 4 years old. Wow. Yes, hard to believe at times. And here lately, she's hit a small growth spurt that has put her up a good inch and gained a pound or so. Big deals for her! Compared to other kids her age, she's still fairly petite and small though.

So, after waking up, we got ready and decided we were going to go to the park for a while. But as we were leaving, we decided to first head to the Children's Museum downtown. We've never been there before. She had a lot of fun in the various rooms - doctor/vet, grocery store, restaurant, art room, dental, ambulance, news room. Of course, there was the bubble area in the middle that she enjoyed quite a bit. Big bubbles!

We left there, went across the street to look at the fountains there. Then to McDonald's to get a little something to eat. Then decided we'd go pick up some bubbles stuff to take to the park with us. Went back home to mix it up, grabbed the camera, and off to the park we went. We walked the pond to feed the ducks, geese, and squirrels. Then went to the car to grab the bubble stuff. Need to tweak the recipe a little, but we had fun! Once we put it all up and washed up, we went to the playground where she had a blast playing tag with a group of kids that were there. Talk about run herself silly!

From there, we called up a friend, Scott, and he met us at a place called Pie Works for supper. Yummy pizza. OMG! Then it was off to Borden's ice cream shop to get some desert. Mikayla loved her small cup of strawberry ice cream with sprinkles!

Once we left there, it was home for bath and bedtime where she fell into bed and asleep without a word. I think she was snoring before we settled ourselves!

Overall, it was a fun day for all, and she was in a great mood, singing to herself in the back 'Happy happy happy happy birthday... to ME!'.
