I can honestly say that if Jensen and Jared weren't playing Sam and Dean that I probably wouldn't watch SPN. They're what draws me to the show. They're the OTP. But when it comes to Dean/Sam I have weird, mixed reactions. I don't really care to see them involved in relationships with other people on screen than the one they have with each other.

I've only read a handful of Dean/Sam fics, but for me, unless the author makes it believable that these two would go to that place, then I don't/can't buy it and it just settles inside me wrong. Does that make sense? I don't know. I guess all I'm saying is that I need a writer to work five times as hard to make me believe Dean/Sam as I do to believe Jensen/Jared. Co-stars who shamelessly flirt with each other and end up falling in love is just easier for me to buy, I guess. I'm strange. :D

perfect sense. i believe that for every pairing. i mean, some people are easier to just, throw together [like Jared/Jensen, as you say], but in those sort of circumstances and even with slash most times you've really gotta earn it.

I also know what you mean about them being with other people. The episodes where the boys have been with women, such as Route 666 or Heart, it's put a strain on Sam&Dean which takes away from the beauty of the show.

I like Sam/Dean, and I also enjoy them in their actual brotherly, non-incestuous relationship. Actually, most of my favourite SPN fic is gen fic! But, um. I think if I had to pick (which I can't imagine the situation where I *would*, but bear with me), Jared/Jensen trumps Sam/Dean so very much hands down. BOYS! <3

And yeah, I don't know how much I'd be watching SPN if not for Jared and Jensen, not that the story is bad or anything, just that lets face it, the actors strongly influence viewership (and yes, they are perfect together!)
