Summary: It was this time of year Kim Heechul treasured the most. (And because I love a soft Heechul. xD; Sorry if it sucks. >.>;; My brain is officially brain dead. )
Kim Heechul was a confident man. He knew that he was handsome, charismatic, self centered and proud. All of these things, Heechul was happy that people around him noticed. He wanted to be the kind of man with no regrets; with no things left unsaid; the result of this being his honest - sometimes brutal - ways of speaking. But even though he knew that what he said had some sort of higher power when it came to the media, he couldn’t help but feel sad whenever his band mates took it the same way.
Obviously, they’d known him for a long time now and Heechul wasn’t always like this - but it was somehow just… too late to do anything about it now.
But, it was around this time of year the young singer could let his guard down. It was this time of year he could let himself be a little kid again, instead of being the forward and outspoken man he portrayed himself as.
And it was times like these that Heechul treasured the most.
“Morning Wookie! I have a gift for you!”
The unusualness of the whole situation had Ryeowook worrying immediately if his hyung might be on something other than eggnog (he’d taken a foul liking to the stuff). “Morning hyung.” He replied with a smile on his lips, finding his place on the floor beside the hyper elder that held a gift between his outstretched palms. “But why already? It’s still a week until Christmas.” Ryeowook nevertheless took the gift from Heechul’s hands and started fiddling with the wrapper, his interest piqued despite himself.
Heechul shrugged and grinned, his eyes disappearing as he waved his hands towards his dongsaeng. “Just open iiiit~~” he sang, watching the magnae delicately opening the present - trying his hardest not to rip the paper too much. How Wookie-like. Heechul thought to himself, taking notice of the younger one’s slightly disheveld appearance. He couldn’t really blame him though, it was six in the morning and most of the members had gone to sleep at three.
“Oh my God! Hyung! This is too much!”
A silent blush crept onto Heechul’s cheeks as Ryeowook’s arms had wrapped around his neck. The sudden contact was surprising, but strangely not uncomfortable. There hadn’t been a lot of times when Heechul let other people than Hankyung and Siwon touch him this much, but it was this time of year when Heechul let himself free from the created image Kim Heechul of Super Junior had.
He returned the hug and smiled and genuine smile, lightly stroking the magnae’s back. “It’s nothing Wookie, I just thought you’d like it. I saw it at the store yesterday.”
Ryeowook was all smiles when he pulled back from the hug and held the gift tightly to his chest; protecting his new necklace as if someone might steal it if he didn’t. “Oh I love it! You’re the best hyung ever Heechul! I’ll go try it on now!”
And just like that, Ryeowook was gone again from the living room, hurrying to the bathroom to try on his new gift. Heechul watched him leave and turned back to the large Christmas tree that adorned their living room; its sparkling tinsel and orbs glittering as the sun rose outside. Heechul felt warmth deep in his chest he couldn’t explain. He raised his hand over his heart and closed his eyes, a small sigh leaving his lips.
It was this time of year when everyone was just a bit nicer.
It was this time of year when everything was coated in a thick layer of snow.
It was this time of year that Kim Heechul chose to show that he was a real human with emotions deep inside.
And it was only this time of year that Kim Heechul cried.
Because this time of year, Kim Heechul was not only a member of Super Junior, but also a hyung and a member of a large family that made him feel welcomed in every way possible. A family that loved him no matter what he might say or do.
