Tasty blend of Roussannes, Grenache Blanc and Viognier. Well balanced. Was good on its own. Would have been good with fish, wasn't so good with the Chicken Dijon I cooked up. But the Chicken was really good so I wouldn't undo that part of it. Mmmm. Chicken.

A white Corbières I picked up for the novelty of a white Corbières, this had a real Mediterranean flavour and went well with some veal and butternut squash. Yes, I eat veal: cutting short the life of an animal that stands around chewing grass and crapping all day doesn't strike me as that big a sin in the grand scale of things.

I had a 375mL bottle of this stuff kicking around my fridge since Christmas, waiting for some fish to be cooked. Interesting flavour: devoid of fruit but very mineralish, almost like Perrier or maybe even sea water.

A pricey (~25$) Gewurztraminer that is way up there on the sugar scale. While it's good sugar, giving the wine a raisiny sort of flavour, I didn't really care for it.

A cheap Sauvignon Blanc from the south of France, this tastes... okay. No obvious flaws but nothing that interesting either.

Acidic and lemony, very light and good with fish.

Nicely tart and inoffensive rosé purchased on the advice of an SAQ agent. Despite this, it was not well-paired with the truly kick-ass Tilapia I cooked up.

Billed as "the perfect wine for simple meals with friends", this blend of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache with a screw top goes down efficiently and with negligible complaint. I have no friends per se (that's latin for "really"), but as for simple meals, this wine went well enough with buttered popcorn but not so well with a pastrami sandwich. Sweet, ( Read more... )
