Miranda and the terrible, horrible, no good, almost very bad day
So I woke up around 9, re-set my alarm for 9:45, and then proceeded to hit the snooze button around four times. Then I got up. lol. :)
I met my third roommate today. She is really cool. I like her a lot. I am the only Carolina girl, living with three Yanks. This will be interesting. lol. :)
My Jersey roommate was hungover this morning and cussed her scrambled eggs out. That was really funny. :)
I had a meeting at 3pm to go to for my internship, and then I was supposed to go straight to work at 4:30.
I got to my car and pulled out, but I heard a clunking sound. So I checked my tire and, sure enough, it was flat. And I don't know how to change a tire and at that moment I had no cash and little money (none to spare because I now live on my own and buy my own groceries, etc). And I HAD to be at that meeting, which by that time was to begin in twenty minutes.
So I called my dad, and then I caught the shuttle that runs through the school apartments. I got to the meeting on time and it ended late. By the time I got out of there I was already pretty much late for work (I'm glad I called beforehand to let them know what was up).
I had to walk home. But it wasn't that bad; it's less than a mile and the weather was beautiful. And I need to get back into shape, so I didn't mind the walk.
My roomie took me to the gas station and I got some cash and bought a can of Fix-A-Flat. I put it in my car and then drove to the nearest gas station to fill up my tire. That done, I headed on to work (It was almost 6:30 by this time).
TWO minutes away from work, my car stalled. Died. Kaput. Adios. Zhai jien. It was dark and I couldn't even completely pull it off the road (a main highway). So I sat there for fifteen minutes with my warning lights on and my car jutting out into the road while people honked at me, apparently trying to make me aware that my car was not off the road (To which my response was "YOU THINK?!" haha).
I called Kara bawling because it had already been a rough day and a lot of other stuff is going on and it all just dumped on me right then at that very moment (Don't we just love how circumstances have impeccable timing? lol). But she was still at work and didn't answer her phone. And I wasn't going to bother anyone else. So I just lost it there in my car for a few minutes.
And then it started back up. YAY! :) I got to work two hours late, but ended up working in the cafe' because someone called in sick. I LOVE the cafe'! :) Granted, I only made fifty cents that night in tips because I had a whopping TWO customers, but it was nice, nonetheless. lol. :)
I drove home with no incidents and arrived at 1am. I tried to fix my roomie's computer, but to no avail. And now I'm sitting here, posting an entry at 2:34am when I have my first class at 9:30am. Dumb, huh? And I have four classes tomorrow after the first one. And then I work 4-close at the store. And then I have to be up by 6:30am on Thursday to begin my internship. ...But I am really looking forward to teaching ESL to the K4-3rd graders. =D
And I have my room almost completely decorated. I shall soon have pictures everywhere. YAY for pictures (heh...I took fifteen rolls of film my freshman year and I have an entire album of those pictures...I never lack in that department haha). :)
But now I hear my Abba calling me to spend some time with Him at the end of my not-so terrible, horrible, no good, not-so very bad day. And I love Him for still wanting me to talk to Him, despite my screw-ups.
