I like my country at the moment. I even like politicians - well, some of them.
New Zealand legalized gay marriage today when our parliament voted in the Marriage Equality Bill. We had civil unions before that but this takes it a final extra step. The bill passed 77 to 44.

I wonder if our local assholes thought of foreign marriages when DOMA was written - states don't have to recognize marriages from other states, but I would imagine recognizing marriages from other countries is a treaty obligation, and therefor federal.
Prepare for marriage tourism...
