I can honestly say my first week of grad. school ended on a weird note. Fortunately it was the good kind of weird.
Yesterday my two roommates from the UK left the hostel so I had the entire room to myself. It was getting late and I was think maybe I would have the room to myself throughout the night. That way I wouldn't have to be extra quiet in the morning when I had to go to school. I finish my homework, take a shower and get ready for bed when suddenly, around 11:15 pm, three guys move into my hostel room and they're still wide awake. So much for that hope.
Today I woke up later than I would have liked. I skipped breakfast and went straight to the bus. Sometime later in the day there was a sudden rainstorm pouring down on the campus. I ran over to the bookstore for an umbrella but they had sold out. That turned out to be a good thing for me since I didn't really want to buy an umbrella if I had to and the rainstorm let up when I left the bookstore.
The ultimate weird thing of the day came during my Modern Literature class. The class was just about to start and the teacher was still preparing for it. She moved a small portable podium out of the way to make room when suddenly a cat sprang out of the podium. Yes, an actual real live cat. He tried to run across the linoleum but it was to slippery for him. He ran up a chair and tried to leap through a window but it wasn't and couldn't open. He did this several times before he realized there was a door behind him. He ran out the door and into the hallway. We figured he must have been a stray who happened to get in and was sleeping in the cubbyhole of the podium.
Ja ne ^_^
