It's just around the bend

So I realize it's once again been a long time since I've posted.  It comes down to the fact that other people write so frequently that I feel like my entries will get washed away like layers of rock.  It usually takes some kind of impetus for me to post anymore.  Today's impetus?  Morrisey's cover of "Moon River."  It's been about 4 months since ( Read more... )

brian yeager, i've missed your entries! (i enjoyed and empathized with) this line:

"Your citations are criticized more heavily, your freedom is restricted more, the backstabbery (should be a word) is higher, and the stress seems greater."

how long IS law school, anyway?

Law school's 3 years but it's kind of like having a 6-semester year, rather than 3 2-semester years. There's always something to work on and your reward for successful completion is to take a test that determines whether or not you can apply what you've focused on for the last 3 years. I'm hoping to update more regularly.

three years; wow. i was just reading a story in the news about some law school student...a thief broke into his appartment and demanded his wallet & his guitars. the student willingly complied. then, the thief noticed his expensive laptop & demanded it also. the law school student completely freaked out & yelled something like "no! there are two yearsworth of case notes on there!" & he promptly wrestled the thief to the ground and punched his lights out.

I have weekly panics about my laptop dying. I've seen people in tears over laptops malfunctioning.

I've had many laptop issues too. That is why every few weeks I back my files up to a thumb drive that I carry on my keys. You did grad school so I'm sure you're seen a lot of craziness. You can't escape it. As far as panicking, I'm fairly certain mine is still bush league stuff.

i compulsively saved each paper that i wrote on a flash drive, my own hard drive, and on Gmail. (and of course, i'd print out extra copies, too). it's amazing how much information can be lost thanks to one little electronic glitch...or thief:
