So I'm sitting at my internship and I was thinking "Luckily I have nothing to do". Then I thought, there are two schools of people: those believing in pre-destination and those believing in man's ability to change his fate. Now hypothetically, if you believe in Pre-destination then you cannever say Luckily. If you do say Luckily then you are admitting that you feel that you have an effect on your future.
In symbolic logic, this would be
P=believing in pre-destination
L=saying Luckily
1 Ax(Px -> -Lx) A Assuming for everyone if you believe in pre-destination you can't say luckily
2 Px A Assuming a person believes in pre-destination
3 Lx PA Doing a partial assumption that a person also says luckily
4 Px -> -Lx 1AO creating a formula for the 1st assumption
5 -Lx 4,2->O If 4 & 2 are true then the person can't say
luckily
6 Lx & -Lx 3,5&I This is a contradiction L & -L cannot coexist
7 -Ax(Px -> -Lx) 3-6-I Therefore we can conclude that it is not the case
that people who believe in pre-destination cannot
say luckily
I know I'm a dork but I thought it'd be interesting to logically prove this. I'm looking for responses on this one. If you want to argue for or against this, please do. Also if you can argue it in a different and/or equally interesting way, it would make my day.
As for my life: applying to law schools, lovin' the girl, formal's this week, grades are awesome, no longer treasurer, internship rocks, OxyCalm is amazing, loving life.
