Finding Nemo was a pretty good movie, but I especially liked the part when Nemo swam out to touch the boat...when from down near the front, a very young person frantically cried out, pleading with Nemo to reconsider his path (to as great an extent as one can express a thought of that complexity at a very young age). It was a valiant effort, but nemo touches the boat anyway, and hijinks ensue to the child's dismay.
Now, I'm not usually one who enjoys kids' outbursts at movie theaters, but all things considered I found it quite touching that the child was reallytrying to share some of his own acquired wisdom with the obstinate little fish. And it just goes to show, as i then mentioned to
rYdot: "Now thats good rendering."
And it was a good evening.
Dinner after the movie was at the ever-tasty Islands. Best... Fries... EVER! Decent margaritas.
And I met at least one full shit-load of interesting new people. A nicely mixed crowd, which made for some fun dinner conversation.
But now I want to step back to before the movie.. Shortly after arriving at rY's, I was moving my guitar from the back seat to the trunk so it wouldn't cook or get stolen, and the girl in the car next to mine, who was just about to leave, rolled down her window and says, "Nice, is that a guitar?"
Thankfully, I restrained the Bill-Engvall-"Here's-Your-Sign" reflex, and I tried to pull off my lame half-smirk as a little flirty smile..
"Yup. Do you play?"
Well, no guitarist, but her name was becky and she's the lead singer in some 80's cover band in the valley, but she's a little dissatisfied with her bandmates taste in songs and has been thinking of something different, and she was there visiting her mom in the complex. She was cute, but didn't really strike me as my type. Maybe the kind of girl that I'd be interested in if we ever crossed paths again in a less awkward situation than two strangers, exchanging a few brief words as the car is backing out of the parking space, with that last quick glance across the dash. Maybe.
Still, she liked the
big steamy thing t-shirt that I was wearing, so she had that going for her, which is nice. it was a happy little boost after sort of an off morning, and it put me in a better mood for the movie and dinner than the mood traffic had instilled in me on the way there.
So, thanks to everyone for the great time at the movie and Islands, presumably these paths will cross again soon, as well.
(Incidentally,
click here if you want more TMBG anagrams. naturally, i think "the mighty gin beast", and "tighten my shite bag" are the best.)
