(no subject)
Hard to believe summer is already here - this year went by so fast! I don't remember the last post I made, but I think it was pre-Germany. Plenty has happened since then...
* had an AMAZING time in Berlin with a fun group of people; I cannot wait to go back to visit Germany, though I don't know where or when. I'll never forget some of the crazy stuff we did while we were there... like kind-of breaking in to a movie theater at 2am? Yeaaaah. That was after going to a nightclub that didn't exist, at least on a Thursday night... yeah, that was night.
* turned 20. not really a big deal, but i have officially left the teenage years.crazy. time to survive adulthood, with my 22in machete in hand, of course. <3
* spent a crazy few days in North Carolina presenting at NCUR (National Conference for Undergraduate Research) . We started the trip getting stranded at the airport in the middle of nowhere, followed by two nights at a shady motel in beds covered with (visible) bodily fluids, and ended the trip with a hotel party at an Extended Stay with out moonshine-drinking buddies from Wisconsin, including Chief, the large indian convicted felon who told great stories. Yeeah. Can't wait for NCUR 2007 - look out California, Team NCUR is comin' your way!
* finished my second year of college - even passed organic chemistry II, so i'll never have to take it again, muahaha
* moved into a shady apartment with a friend from MoJo; the two guys living here are quite nice, though neatness is not their priority. ah well, cheap rent, and it's close to work, which is nice. and our room is huge :)
* started working in the lab full-time. eight hours in a lab is certainly different than two hours in a lab, but it's nice.
* last, but certanly not least, i have fallen completely in love with a wonderful guy. he's way to good for me, and way too good to me... part of me is afraid that he'll realize that he deserves much better, but i don't let myself think like that. we've been together nearly 2 months, and just talking to him on the phone is enough to make me annoyingly happy and giddy. just ask my (former) roommate, who would gag at our "cuteness." :)
Sooo yeah. This summer is looking quite good. Went into the lab from 8:30-4:30 today, made myself some dinner, then hung out for a bit. Joel came over around 8:30, and we met Martin for ice cream down on South U.; went to Martin's place to watch Lost (well, I watched it, Joel tolerates it :-P), then headed back here. I'm definitely about to crash... working all day takes a whole different kind of focus than class, and I'm honestly exhausted by this time. Though I suppose getting up at 6:30am does that too....
