My foreign (nick)names ...

May 17, 2008 12:22

I've been fortunate enough to travel rather extensively over the past few years and as a result have either been given, or acquired some names from the people and places that I have stayed.

Taken from countless friends journals, and the inspiration from this post I'm going to start with -

Japan - 中島 Nakashima (center of the island) 幸代 Sachiyo (generation of blessing) I actually really like this one.
Swaziland - Xolile (forgiveness) and Nolwazi (knowledge) I had two siSwati room mates and they each gave me a name. I still use Xolile to this day, normally on my emails.
Ethiopia - 'Eve' Not entirely foreign, but that is the English translation, sadly I cannot remember the Ethiopian term, however I'll look it up and return.
France - Cochcon [?, that is written phonetically. Darling,] lots of French family friends ... unfortunately.
