(no subject)
This year kind of sucked. Next year could go either way.
This year had a lot of problems. The only real plus I can think of was the music was pretty good. That's...really it. The Antler's Hospice and mewithoutYou's It's All Crazy etc. etc. are both new top ten albums, which is nice. And there were lots of excellent records. Some decent movies came out (Stingray Sam is THE BEST THING EVER AND BETTER THAN THE AMERICAN ASTRONAUT THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE SAME DUDE, The Brothers Bloom was highly enjoyable, umm...some other movies didn't suck?), some decent games came out (though most of them sucked hardxcore. Seriously, Demon's Souls, Devil Survivor, and Flower (nice mix) were...pretty much the worthwhile games of the year. Dragon Age was disappointing, Borderlands was meh, Assassin's Creed 2 was the worst game I've ever had the unpleasantness of playing 30 minutes of, the new Ratchet and Clank is generic (but being played), Arkham Asylum was overrated horribly to the point where it bludgeoned itself to death (and wasn't much better than other superhero games), and there were some good indie games but they were overshadowed by Machinarium being the biggest one, and it's a well-drawn retread of old ideas delivered in flash for 20$), but nothing wowed.
I made some good new friends. A good number of them, I think. Which would make it worthwhile except I'm unemployed, have no skills, might not get into grad school, and art is not coming easily. Everything else kind of sucks.
Here's to another lousy decade.
