got a secret...
I've been keeping up with the latest episodes of Pretty Little Lairs, and I've come to the conclusion that (all things considered) I actually really like that show =|
[*] Okay, so this show could very easily have been another clichéd, rather indistinctive teen drama, but there’s a darkness about it that keeps it from being just that. The lives of these four girls (Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Emily) are tainted with the mystery of their friend Allison’s murder. On top of that, there’s this mysterious and malignant individual named “A” who is somehow connected to Alison’s murder, and who more or less stalks these girls and screws with their lives at every given opportunity. The darkness, mystery and suspense give this show an original edge and, really at the end of the day, keep me at the edge of my seat. There’s really never been a downright dull episode, A’s games and all the secrets that are slowly revealed have kept that at bay.
[*] I don’t remember who it was, but someone on my flist was lamenting the lack of focus on female friendships, particularly in the realm of television, and I totally agreed because a lot of the relationship-type focus is dedicated to ships (don’t get me wrong, I love a good ship as much as the next, but other relationships interest me as well). Well, this show alone can suffice in satisfying my weekly girlfriends fix because it focuses so heavily on the friendship between these four girls and how they rely on/support one another in dealing with whatever “A” or their personal lives throw at them.
SEE HOW SWEET THEY ARE?!?! *sighs*
[*] Oh, and there’s also this focus on the individual characters (their personnel plights and developments) that a number other shows seem to be lacking these days. Each girl has her own personnel/family issue that she must respond to and overcome: Emily has to come to terms with her sexuality and face her mother’s rejection as a result; Aria has to face the consequences of an affair with her teacher as well her parents’ separation; Spencer struggles with her family’s perfectionist mentality and the rift between her and her sister; Hanna struggles with her body image, her parents’ separation, and her mother’s more recent financial issues.
Overall, I think it’s worth watching. It’s not the most complex, substantial, or outstanding show I’ve seen by any stretch, but it does have its strong suits and there’s never a dull moment ^_^
& (just because I am beyond addicted) WE ARE LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY FROM NEW TVD!!! Plenty to be excited about in that regard...
[*] We finally get to see Damon’s room! (the fact that I put that first says quite a bit lol…)
[*] UNCLE JOHN’S BACK!!! *SQUEALS*
[*] It seems as if we’ll be seeing more and more of Elijah; and there’s even been talk of him “charming” Jenna!! *flails* Now, I do like Jenna/Alaric together, but I’s not a hard-core shipper where they’re concerned and I want as much Elijah as I can possibly get so this makes me very, very happy.
[*] Soon, Tyler’s going to be in the know, which will (sadly) be disastrous for him and Caroline (although I do enjoy the angst lol), but apparently Stefan is going to try and convince him that there’s no need for animosity between any of them just because of what they are. I really like when Stefan plays the mediator/mentor role, I enjoyed it with Vikki (despite how unreceptive she was and how disastrous it turned out) and I flat out LOVED it with Caroline, so I’m excited to see how he decides to go about things with Tyler, as well as how Tyler responds…
[*] JP stated in one of her interviews that dealing with Rose’s condition will give Damon and Elena another opportunity to bond (much like the Stefan on HB scenario did). I’d really love to see these two gain some semblance of their late season 1 friendship back so, YESSSS!!!
[*] There’s going to be another flashback episode (I believe 2x15) where Elena discovers something monumental about Stefan and Damon (apparently it’s going to be sparked by the discovery of more Gilbert journals).
[*] & Bonnie/Jeremy WILL kiss!!! *squeals* (not sure when, but it is official!)
I’ll stop there before I make this post ridiculously long (although I think it already may be lol). Oh and, if anyone’s wondering, I found all the spoilers on Vampire-Diaries.net.
