White Picket Fences and Apple Trees, Winter Chapter One

Nov 11, 2006 19:41

So, here begins part two, or Winter, as I've taken to calling it. And uh, guess what I realized today? I'm not really sure you can actually grow apple trees in Wyoming. I was really kind of crushed when I realized that. And then I thought...well, I don't care. It's fiction, and while I'm all for keeping up with reality and such, I've come this ( Read more... )

Loved that little bit of stability in the form of Joel - the knowledge that there were probably some people who had known about them for a long time. Yet, they never had any trouble until now. The town is not totally made up of hate-mongers. I don't guess that's going to make it any easier on Bobby, though.

Assorted other thoughts:
Troy can take a flying leap.
And hooray for Mary Ellen. Making progress! :)

Thanks for another great chapter. :)

It might make it easier on Bobby. Maybe, maybe not. ;) And even if it doesn't make it easier on Bobby, it might make it easier for Ennis. Haha on Troy. We'll see about that one. Double hooray for Mary Ellen!

Finally, a "Winter" I can enjoy! mississaugared November 13 2006, 12:37:33 UTC
Totally on board for the next season! Hope it's not going to get too much rougher for them (but it probably will ... sigh.) Bobby's truck egged, workers quitting, already had clients canceling orders. But you gave us something positive to hold on to this chapter also. What a relief ( ... )

One thing I've learned--no matter how many people you think are against you, not every single person in a town thinks alike. So that's good for our boys!

don't trust that Troy as far as Grettie could throw him. grumble, grumble.

Bahaha. Insert funny mental images here. And I love Bobby too. ;) I want to marry him. Thanks a bunch hon!

Poor Bobby, he was already cold and then that water came out at him from the frozen hose!!!!!!!!!!! Burrrrrrrrr! I can almost feel the cold. I liked how Bobby was thinking about having a "normal family" and decided his was more normal than others he knew! Right on!!!!!!!!!
It seems like Mary Ellen is being helped by being with the horses! I'm so excited! I wondered what she and her husband thought about the boys having been in a fight on Halloween.
It was upsetting when Ennis picked the phone up to that crank call. And very upsetting when 4 hands quit at the ranch, but it was really nice that Joel was just fine with the situation and had already known.
I hope Junior will not give Troy another chance! Boo Hiss Down with Troy!
The part about Jack growing a mustache was realy good, I had to chuckle in a couple parts especially. I take it you aren't a fan of the mustache look.....I actually like Jack with one (when he was older anyway).
Your journal looks nice the colors you have it. Good job! :)

Oh, I guess I never put their reactions about the Halloween fight, did I? That's not cool...I'll have to work that in the next chapter.

I take it you aren't a fan of the mustache look...

Actually the verdict's still out on that one. Thanks hon!

Apple trees growing in Wyoming? Why, yes! tiwaki November 14 2006, 12:56:17 UTC
Great chapter, as usual...can't wait for the next, of course...

But I'm posting this time mainly to assure you some varieties of apple grow in Wyoming. Doubters can google for the history of the Sinks Canyon Center, about 30 miles southwest of Riverton. From 1892 to 1943 agricultural experiments were performed there for the University of Wyoming. It's orchards produced "locally successful" varieties of apple. The apple trees are still there.

So, your fictional accuracy rating still holds high!

I'm so happy for the Mc Gowan family, Mary Ellen makes a baby step of progress.
Her healing process has slowly started.

Thanks
