After a week long battle with a strain of strep throat God reserves only for the most wicked and depraved of human beings, the only battle scar I have is a strange wound on the gum near my wisdom tooth. Hurts alot at times. Canker sore, or have my tooth beavers revolted ( Read more... )

As far as the last part: DUH. But aside from that, you can look at it from two angles.

First you could stick it out in the menial jobs and maybe someday be manager!! Give up and let the capatalist pigs crush you into sheep smelling dust! A big part of their crafty evil plan is breaking your spirit and losing faith in your dreams. It happens to all of us, and it doesn't get easier to get up after the first time. At least starbucks coffee kids are called "Baristas". Mmmm, the language I can't identify sexy-coffe-kid-name.

Secondly, you can remember that just about every successful person had to do crap jobs first. ESPECIALLY ACTORS. Its the paying the dues part that makes those E True Hollywood stories so boring in the first seven minutes. The real truth is that the degree does make a difference. Not a huuuuge one, but its one of those things that (trust me) hold you back in a real pissy way if you don't have it. It is true that college is a business, and they just want your money. That's why I'm a fan of the "let's move to another country and never pay the bastards!", solution.

But as far as everyone getting screwed when they get out of college, its true. You're at the bottom of the barrel though. You're 15 again and its FreshMeat Monday. Expect to get kicked around, not make any team, get lost, be a naieve dork, and maybe get pushed into smoking cigarettes. At least, you can take sollace in the fact that the conveyor-belt part of your life is -over-. WhooopS! I mean: "Don't go get married and have kids", and its over.
No one has any directions for you. You can do whatever you want, all the time. There is nowhere to be as the seasons change, and no one to hold your hand. The water's cold, but you get used to it.
