So let's see - the kids are awesome. Rob talks more and more every day. I still worry about him because he's a tip-toe walker. I mean, a bad one. He's built up ankle muscles. I think his calf muscle has actually shortened from it, or maybe he toe walks because it was short to begin with. I had an uncle with that. If you tell him "put your feet ( Read more... )

OMG! Regarding the "crying until you figure out what he wants" thing - Logan's like that too. But he's been getting better at understanding stuff and expressing his needs.

Story: Other day Logan gives my wife the green sippy cup and says "My milk!" In our understanding of Logan's world "My!" translates to "I want". So my wife gives him milk in that sippy cup. He smacks it out of her hand and throws a tantrum. My wife gets exasperated so Logan doesn't get anything.

So she tells me about this and it dawns on me. The green sippy cup is Logan's juice cup. I almost always give him juice in that cup. In Logan's world, "Milk or juice" means a drink (Q: "Do you want milk or juice? A: "YES!") and he tends to shorten things he says. So he was really asking for juice.

When I told my wife about the "juice cup" everything made sense, he got the juice he wanted, and everyone was much happier. Except we still have to get him off this juice habit. He doesn't want to drink anything else and barely eats.

Disclaimer: Usually I'm the one that doesn't understand what he wants. This case just happened to be my wife so I remember it better.

Oh and the "What toy/puzzle do you want?" game is another one.

Don't mind growing old so much. I wish I weren't getting decrepid.
