2014 was a movie year. I was honestly happy with [Kinkyori Renai]'s super success. What was amazing was that despite only opening 179 screens nationwide, it took first place in movie ranking. It's a brilliant achievement for opening screens under 200. It was my first time challenging a "so-called archetypal handsome role straight out of a female comic". To have so many people watched it, I have never been happier! From an "impossible world" to "what if it could happen!?", I think we successfully changed it from the manga world to the real world. The response was big, like "A lot of females elementary students watched it", "Halfway, male high school students were seen more frequently", "Seems like there's people who watched it multiple times", each time I got these news I was really happy. It's a slightly different feeling from a drama's success. In fact, even though I was in it, in the end, I watched it 4 or 5 times (laughs). Starting with the staffs' team power and director Kumazawa Naoto's directing, because such a result was obtained through various good coincidences coming in succession, while expressing gratitude, I want to do my best from now on without slowing down. But I want to be happy with this good result now. It's really thanks to everyone that it became a "memorable year".
Another thing, I can't talk about 2014 without [Otona no KISS Eigo]. Even though it was my first time having my own show, but I still get dokidoki every time (laughs). Now that I'm used to it, I don't get surprised so much. Even if there is a sudden surprise, it's like "Bring it on!". The overseas filming was so fun~. I persistently tell the show staffs "I want to go overseas" every time I meet them. Fufu~ (laughs). LA was great, but how about New York next time. Which reminds me, the short term language study exchange that I wanted to go to couldn't be realized. However, this show started, and from then on, I luckily met a good English teacher in Japan. Although I might not have reach one step, but I'm certainly going forward half a step this year. Even just little by little, I'll continue at my own pace of half steps to make a big advance forward! That's my idea now.
Also, the thing that made everyone worry... Because that's a part that I must reflect on, I carved it in my mind if I don't properly brace myself. I will do my best in order to receive many people's support.
In private, opportunities to hang out with juniors increased this year. Recently, it's with (Yamada) Ryousuke, Chinen (Yuri), and (Okamoto) Keito, the 3 of them and together with my friends, about 5 guys. Occasionally if someone can't come, a lot of times it's just the 3 or 4 guys hanging out. I don't feel the age gap between these 3. We go out for meals, sometimes we just gather at someone's house, we eat sweets without drinking, play games and then go back home. Are you an elementary student? (laughs) Occasionally, I think "Are they able to have fun with me?", but it's good that the relationship became something we don't need to worry about. I basically really hate putting an air of seniority, I am the type that, if possible, I want to talk and interact on the same level. Oh but when I brought along (Sato) Shori to a barbeque by the river, I really felt the age gap (laughs). He's really cute. Over 20s and under 20s are completely different as expected. However, Kotaki (Nozomu) is the same age as Shori, but he's a different type, that guy is really like an adult. It's interesting having a variety of juniors. Also, there are juniors whom I communicate in English, it was a year where my interactions expanded. Maybe I have become an adult in a good way, fufu (laughs).
As for changes in my private life, starting from the second half of 2014, I started horseback riding, and my home became an environment where I can watch movies anytime without connecting to the TV or internet. As for horseback riding, I heard one of my co-actors say "let's go horseback riding", and I took the chance to ask him to bring me along. I was addicted, it was really comfortable and interesting. Because it's a living thing, some horses are compatible, and some are not. I enjoyed my breathing being in sync with the horse. It's just that the place for horseback riding is far, so it's a bit difficult (laughs). Speaking of moving the body, I want to try hand-to-hand combat in the future. I think it will be useful for action roles. Because I'm getting to the age where I can't just depend on energy (laughs), I need to prepare properly.
I occasionally read novels and manga. If there are interesting manga, please introduce it to me. I hope sweeties can tell me, "How about this kind of role in this kind of manga?". Finally, in 2014, it was really regrettable that I couldn't do a concert, time wise, but I will definitely do one in 2015. I will create a time where we can interact in close distance (term used is "kinkyori"), so please wait for a little while. In "tsundere" term, right now it's "tsun" (aloof), but "dere" (being lovestruck) time is definitely coming!
