Time for an update

I guess it's been a while and I should probably do an update :)

Things have been going pretty well. The baby showers in Utah were amazing. Our family and friends are so great and hooked us up with a LOT of stuff. We've been putting up the baby stuff and I'll add some pics on here of the nursery! It's pretty much done.

The baby time is coming soon. On Monday I went to the doc and she said I'm starting to dilate. Nothing big, less than 1 cm, but my body is getting ready for the baby to come. She said it could be a few days or the baby may wait until the due date. Which, is September 29th, only 15 days away! O_o

I don't know if I'm ready for this part yet. When I was discussing my Maternity leave with the HR lady, she was so sweet and answered all my questions. The next week she came over to my department and gave me three huge books. What to Expect When You're Expecting, What to Expect In The First Years and What to Expect in the Toddler Years. They were all used, and not the newest editions but I was so excited that she picked them up for me! She found them at a garage sale.

So, armed with those books, I've been reading up on labor and the different stages and things. It's really helped me prepare for this huge step I'm going to be taking within the next few weeks. But I'm still nervous, no matter what anyone else says.

I'm also really worried about the health of the baby. Since I wasn't able to take prenatal vitamins during the pregnancy I'm worried. Though I know women have had healthy babies for years without taking the vitamins. We've also had to make sure we've all been up to date on all our shots and things.

The one shot that we want people to have before being around the baby is the Pertussis shot. The one for Whooping Cough. Whooping Cough is a big danger to newborns out here. CA had the highest number of cases in the US last year. I know I'm probably annoying people by asking them to get the shot before being around Violet... but it's a huge concern and besides, that's one of the normal shots to have as of 2005. The CDC recommends everyone get that shot once every 10 years. x.x I hope no one gets angry with me for wanting the best for my baby... if she gets Whooping Cough it will kill her and that scares me. My Mom and Grandmother already got the shots weeks ago, before I even asked about it.

Also, we got some maternity pics taken by some of my awesome artsy photography friends. One did digital and one did film, so we could have both! The digital ones are still being worked on and touched up. I have some samples of the film ones, which I'll post below! :D

And some previews of our Maternity pics!
