After a weak last episode, Clone Wars is back and awesome. I'm being vague below to avoid spoilers for people who haven't seen it yet.
-Loved Ashoka and Padmé bonding. We see no sign of their friendship starting/developing, and I get why: that would bore a lot of action junkie fans, and younger fans. But we older fans, female fans, character-loving fans get moments of a friendship established, and it was a great conversation. Another sign of how well the show has learned to juggle fans of different ages and interests.
-Oh, Padmé! You and your ego. "Someday you'll even beat me." "I learned to believe in myself." And yet every word was motivated by compassion and empathy. I love her so much.
-Oh, Padmé! You and your aggressive negotiations! :D
-The return of Aurra Sing(h?) and Zero the Hutt. I don't know why CW villains are so interesting to me. I'm sick to death of bad girls, yet Aurra and Ventress are endlessly fascinating. Zero is always a riot. Grevious and Cad Bane are just cool to watch.
-Ashoka's dreams were gripping, scary and menacing. I was as confused as her when she ran into Padmé's room and found nothing there; the dream had been so urgent-!
-Ashoka's insecurity fighting with her own ego. "I should be studying, not here!" vs. "But I'm not sure what I saw..." "I'm sorry, I made a mistake" vs. "Wait, Padmé, I have a plan!" I'm really starting to like her too, a surprise to me because I could not STAND her in the original CW movie.
-Pacing. Often episodes about intrigue and mystery go WAY too fast, with too many coincidences put in to rush things to the end. But everything flowed here, including Aurra twisting expectations at the end. She's good at what she does, that woman...
