We're MONSTERS!

Aug 06, 2010 01:41

Hellooooo, everyone!  Hope all of you had a wonderful day!  <3

Mine was a thumbs up indeed.  My mom and I left for the gym a little earlier than usual, and when we pulled out of our driveway, I saw a very familiar-looking package sticking out of the mailbox.

Me:  OMG, is that my package?  *rubs eyes*
Mom:  I think so.
Me:  *throws car door open and sprints to mailbox*
Me:  *gets back in car*
Me:  *rips package open frantically with house key (it's all I had)*
Mom:  I've never seen you open a package so frantically.
Me:  It's because I'm a MONSTER!

That's right, lovers, I got my copy of MONSTERS today!  And it's true, I did rip through the package more vigorously than usual, I even ripped the bubble wrap around the CD case, which has never happened before.  I was that excited.

So now I'm fairly confident in my thoughts on MONSTERS.  Actually, they haven't changed since my last post, but...

Human-clad monster:  Fun.  A great opening song-- in fact, I think it may go up to my favorite opening song along with DAMNED.  Very mature.  IN LOVE with the rapping bit.  Rather intricate.  Overall, awesome, and probably most surprising song on the whole album for me, but I'm not sure why.

DEATH POINT:  I personally find this a beautiful, touching song.  I love the message, to stick by your own side and fight!  Very powerful.  Catchy,

13-thirteen-:  It's a great song, no argument there, but it wasn't as awesome as it was in my imagination when I heard the sample on amazon.  I love the death march feel, but there's no climax and I kind of expected some sort of tempo change.  But still, it's an awesome song, made for fist-pumping, and totally different from anything D'espairsRay has ever tried before.

LOVE IS DEAD:  Love it, of course.  I've loved it since the very begining.  Dancey, catchy, can't help but sing "Lalalala Love is dead~!"  Most likely amazing live... just... so dancey.

DEVIL'S PARADE:  My favorite song on the whole album.  It's wild!  Total live song.  It's meant to go crazy to.  I feel like stripping and running around when I hear it, wanna throw my hands in the air and flap 'em around like a nut and headbang and jump and go totally bonkers.  It's a simple song in that it repeats the same beat for basically the whole song, but complex in that it's multi-layered and there's just so many elements thrown into it, which isn't uncommon for D'espairsRay, but it's just heavier in this song than the others on the album, I think.  The pause in the middle is a bit akward, but it's still cool.  And don't you just want to go mad to "NaNaReMiLaMiNa"?  It's so fun!  This is just a fun, merry, erotic song that is going to be KILLER live.

dope:  My next favorite song on the album.  dope is just... dope.  XD  It's a very smooth, flowing song.  It's nice and grungey, but at the same time it has this Circus of Freaks/Marilyn Manson/Nightmare Before Christmas feel.  You just wanna head bang to this song like a stoner.  And I just love the lyrics.  Overall it's just a ridicuously awesome song.

FALLING:  It's beautiful.  Very "D'espairsRay".  It didn't re-invent the wheel, but it's still lovely.  Soft and strong at the same time, something D'espairsRay is very good at.  Very cathartic.  So touching.  There are points were I just sit up and clutch my chest.  A wholesome song.  Gorgeous.

PROGRESS:  Another beautiful, soft-yet-strong song.  It's gorgeous and leaves you breathless at some points.  Backing vocals lovely as ever.  In tempo and feeling, PROGRESS and FALLING are very similar, and although they're both great songs in their own right, they kind of just... blur into one, lovely song in my mind.  In general, I love PROGRESS.

FINAL CALL:  Oh, baby!  I love this song.  I've loved it since I first heard it last year.  I've loved it all this time, and I will love it until the day I die.  There's just something about it that just... makes me fall in love with it.  I just... love this song.  And the PV.  XD

abyss:  The only ballad on the album.  The verses are pretty, but they just do NOT compare to the chorus.  Oh my gosh, the chorus!  I'm inclined to believe this song has the most beautiful chorus of all time.  When I first listened to it, I was kind of like *sits and waits for something impressive to happen* and then it did, and it totally caught me off gaurd.  It was just like BAM!  Heart-wrenching chorus in your face!  It's an amazing song, it just wraps you up in a deep sea of emotions and pulls you into the silent water.

And then I watched the Making of DEATH POINT for the fist time and it was just one piece of awesome.  This is the best making of yet.  It actually showed the process of, uh, making the PV.  It was really interesting and I feel like for the first time you see how hard everyone works and how many people are involved.  It was super cool to see how things are really done, which you don't see in the other making of's.  It's a tough job, man.  Also, there were very cute parts.  My personal favorite was the part where Karyu was pretending the neck of his guitar was super heavy with the camera on it.  GOOFY GOOBER!  *loves on him*

Anyway, then I went to the gym.  I was really tired, so my workout wasn't as intense as usual.  And my shin splints are back with a vengence!  They huuuuurt.  My knee has also been dumb lately, so my knee brace has been my constant companion.  And because I've increased the amount I run lately, my legs are sore ALL the time.  Always.  Every single moment.  It's like track season all over again!  Running sucks right now for these reasons.  So I am officially going to stop running until after the D'espairsRay concerts.  I do NOT want to be worrying about my knee and shins and the pain when I'm trying to have fun with D'espa.  So I'm cutting the running off... maybe.  I honestly don't know how long I can go without running.  I have a lovely fanstasy about getting on the treadmill at the hotel I'm staying at in Chicago because the gym looks pretty kick butt.  We got some nice hotels.

Also, I got my haircut today.  For the longest time I've wanted a layered bob, but no one has ever managed to get it right.  But finally, today someone did!  I thought I found the perfect way to describe how I wanted it (a choppy bob!) and felt real clever, but... the hair lady was like, ''Huh?"  Either way, she did it right and I like it.  Hurrah!  In accordance to that, I got my eyebrows done the other day, too.  Thank GOSH.  They were no longer in the realm of caterpillars-- they were started to look like bears growing on my face!

Andandand.  THIS:

What the fraaaaaack?  Like, woah.  I can't believe it's this close.  It's just rushing headlong into me.  I'm already starting to get that after-live sad feeling when the wait is over and all is done and it feels like there's nothing to look forward to ever again.  But I cannot let myself get depressed after the lives!  Because it's... depressing.  xD  I just need to focus on that I'm going to have fun and I'll see them again soon, hopefully!  (Can you believe I'm already saying all this stuff and I haven't even seen them yet?)

Whoohoo!  Three more days!  And I still haven't even decided on any outfits.  I'm back and forth on this thing.  Like... I said I'd wear a grey denim skirt with black jeans for Chicago, but I keep changing my mind!  My family is coming over tomorrow for my birthday and I'm going to have my cousin Caitlin help me pick an outfit.  She has very good fashion sense.  *nods*

Anyhoooo~!  Back to reading D'espa live reports!  <3

And people:  DON'T LET ME FORGET MY TICKETS OR PASSPORT!!!  Seriously.  I am so freaking forgetful, it's awful.  Can someone honestly send me a comment or something on the 7th so I remember to pack them?  Pretty please?  *puppy eyes*

EDIT:  Oh, FAWK, ZERO.  I'm sorry.  I meant to post a happy birthday to you on your actual birthday Japan time.  Then I was like, well, it's still the 31st here... and before I knew it, a shitton of days had passed.  So, here ya go!  A very, very belated happy birthday:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mr. Z!!! <3
