Is it Secret Surprise Day and nobody told me?

Surprise #1: My usual route to work was blocked this morning. They're converting the two main roads through downtown back into local streets. Right now, there are two one-way four-lane streets, and the lights are timed so I hit no more than one red light. After they're done, both streets are going to be two lanes in each direction, and I wouldn't be surprised if they break up the timing on the lights. I don't get why the downtown merchants are supporting this plan. At least I'll have fun finding a new route over the next couple of weeks.

Surprise #2: I was scheduled for a blood donation today. I would have seen that on my calendar at work, but I took Friday off and yesterday was a holiday, so I didn't remember until this morning. It went well, except I kept yawning because I had avoided caffeine all morning. Also, every time I donate, they tell me my blood pressure, but I can never remember what the threshold for hypertension is, so that's always the first thing I look up when I get back to my computer. (I'm fine.)

Surprise #3: I keep a tray of loose change at my desk. Whenever it gets low, I scoop out a handful of change from a basket at home and bring it in to work. I'm attempting to get rid of my change this way, but it's taking a long time. Anyway, I thought I should get a snack and some juice to prep for my blood donation, so I grabbed some change out of my desk. The nickel looked funny. It wasn't a normal nickel, and it wasn't one of the new Lewis and Clark nickels. It was a really worn down Indian head nickel. Cool. It wouldn't be worth anything to a collector - the date is completely obliterated - but still, pretty cool.
