Fluffy and short.
This was a special season for Claire; she lived for the whole spirit of the holiday, nothing compared to the promise of a time filled with joy, love and giving. Over the years she built a list with all the moments that made a Christmas perfect in her eyes.
Wrapping presents by herself late at night, paper and ribbons scattered all over her bed.
Drinking hot chocolate in the Texan December, imagining it’s cold and snowy outside.
Helping her mom in the kitchen while she insists she can do it perfectly on her own.
Singing carols while she puts the table for Christmas Eve dinner.
Opening her father’s gift first because she knows it matters to him.
Celebrating Peter’s birthday under the mistletoe? That was a new one.
But she fully intended to make that tradition last a lifetime.
