Honestly, I almost fell asleep during PD today. Not a great way to learn new instructional strategies/expectations. Next time I'll try and run for coffee before it starts (or stop Randy on his way out the door to get his coffee, lol).
So I forgot to put this here yesterday:
Remember how I said we were at a workshop for teachers and the law, presented by attorneys who work for the union? Most of the subject matter was about what to do if you ever find yourself involved in any aspect of a DCF investigation.
Only answer the question they ask you. Nothing more.
I was sitting on the end, so the presenter puts a piece of regular old printer paper up in front of him and asks me, "Can you tell me what color this piece of paper is?"
Like a dope, my response was "...white?"
The correct response?
"Yes."
Food for thought.
Interesting and a bit scary and sad how teachers are scrutinized under the finest of microscopes, almost more than anyone else. That I am receiving training on how to defend myself seems a bit over the top, but according to the presenters, every teacher will be involved in a DCF case in some aspect or another, whether as reporter, witness or (God forbid) accused.
In other news, Bobby Flay was downtown today filming the first episode of his new reality show, to premier in July! It's going to be called something like "Bobby Flay's Food Project" and there's a good chance that you could catch a glimpse of my brother and I in the crowd! The "restaurant" in question was actually a brand-new food truck that makes gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and soup. Let me tell you...it smelled amazing. They were giving free food to people who signed waivers to appear on the show. I wish I could say that I ate a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich cooked by Bobby Flay himself, but alas, we couldn't find the person with the waivers, providing there were any left by the time we got down there. Oh well, at least I got some good pictures and waved to him. Not bad for a last minute Wednesday night adventure!
