That's right. Shameless, I say. If you didn't know I was a geek by now, then you don't know me well at all. :-P
I went to the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2 last night!
First of all, I hadn't been to a midnight showing of a movie in years. It was kind of fun to see all the high schoolers in their Hogwarts gear - indeed, one girl was even dressed in a pillowcase and cord around her waist, a la our dear departed Dobby (A Free Elf)! Brought back memories of my own crazy LOTR obsessed days. ;)
And then, I found myself thinking, you high schoolers - you were mere elementary school babies when I first discovered the magic of the Harry Potter series! Do you have any idea what this night means to me and my fellow twenty-somethings? Get off my lawn!
Ahem.
Anyway, I thought the film was excellent, beautifully done. They told the story so well - splitting the final book into 2 movies was the best idea they ever had, in order to truly do justice to the story. Laura, Kerry and I were sniffling back tears at the end. Definitely try to watch the first part on DVD before you go, though, because it really makes it that much better! :)
And the midnight showing...I mean, if obnoxious teenagers bother you, then it's not the place for you, but I always enjoy going to movies where the crowd is as enthusiastic as it was last night. The legit cheering that erupts from the crowd as a heroic deed is done and our favorite parts of the story play out on the screen - I LOVE it.
And the epilogue!!! OMG it was precious!!!! I was wondering if they'd have our original crew play their 30-something selves, or if they'd get other actors. I was actually leaning more towards the latter, and was pleasantly surprised when I saw everyone playing themselves with new haircuts and facial hair, hahaha! You kind of had to stretch at some points to make it believable (and they had to cast some pretty short children, lol), but it was beautiful, and I loved it. < /gushing>
And now, switching gears...so much for a 30-day meme. I think I've been slowly answering these questions for over 2 months now. :-P

How do you make me pick just one? I'm constantly belting out and playing on the piano all a manner of Disney songs, all the time!
I think my favorite song of all is "Belle". I don't really know why. Probably a multitude of reasons - Beauty and the Beast being my favorite movie since 1991, Menkin/Ashman being an amazing songwriting team, my intense love of musical theater and this song's strong resemblance to an "operetta" (according to Alan Menkin)... the list goes on. <3
And of course, I've posted it before, but here's an awesome version by my beloved Darren Criss (I'm only a little biased...)

"You know, you can say it backward, which is Dociousaliexpeisticfragicalirubus, but that's going a bit too far, don't you think?"
"Indubitably."
