Quite the Education

I'm Feeling:
sleepy

By the way, I watched Godspell this weekend for the first time. Twice. That's once more than I ever thought I'd see the movie.

I never knew Jesus could be psychadelic. I also never knew that this person and this person were both Victor Garber. Who freakin' knew that THAT was his film debut at age 24? (WITH AN AFRO?!?!)

It was interesting to say the least. I found myself singing along to the songs I knew despite myself because, well, it's me and I do that with almost every musical I'm at least semi-familiar with, and I couldn't help busting out loudly with "Bless the Lord" as performed by the late, great Lynne Thigpen. My research led me to find out this weekend that a LOT of famous stars began their theater (and film) careers with a version of Godspell, whether in NYC or Toronto, among them being Gilda Radner, Martin Short, Eugene Levy and Sonia Manzano (a.k.a. "Maria" from Sesame Street). Also, I found out tonight that Robin Lamont (the "Robin" of the original cast) is the aunt (by marriage or something) or one of my choir friends. Small world, huh.

I'm going to hate myself tomorrow morning when I can't get up.

godspell, geekiness, musicals
