I love Arashi for lots of reasons, one of which is for the beautiful songs they sing. I love to sing and cannot truly sing along until I learn Japanese. One of the frustrating parts about subbed/translated works are that they are rephrased in English word order which does not help someone who is trying to learn Japanese. For this reason I have begun to retranslate some Arashi songs word for word ( at least as much as I can and still make sense). I have started with Ai wa Utao. I think you will realise when you listen again these translations add to the meaning and emotion of the song as you can match meaning to intonation. I am no expert so I am sure there are mistranslations but I tried not to change or interpret too much as I am also learning the new vocabulary. Where there are brackets I have rearranged the order of the word (usually particle) to make sense.
