I love this, so poignant: She can't remember the last time he looked at her in that... way he used to look at her. That way she never took note of until it vanished. Like he... not like he loved her. If there's anything Jack hasn't done, it's love her. But he liked her.

I agree with frey-at-last. When I made note of the lack of the looks, my first thought was, "They finally gave him that memo to stop looking at her all dreamy-eyed!"

I don't like this unknown 'they.'
