Thinking of borrowing a book called 'Stephen King on Writing' from the local library. I decided to read the Foreword and was pleasantly surprised to read that King has dedicated the book to Amy Tan. Both of them are (were?) members of a band called The Rock Bottom Remainders. King on the ryhthm guitar and Tan as one of the 'dixie chick' singers. King said that the reason he dedicated it to Tan was that when he asked her what's the question journalists never ask her, she answered: "No one ever asks about the language." And so King wrote an entire book about the language. :)
I know I can get most of my stuff from the internet but I feel like I should borrow books from the library if only to make librarians feel like they're still needed. Bah, they probably don't care. :p
So I'm going to borrow the following:
"Stephen King on Writing"
"Re-write Right" by Jen Venolia
"Edit Yourself" by Bruce Ross-Larson
"The art of compelling fiction" by Christopher Leland
And for my reading pleasure,
"Duende - a journey in search of flamenco" by Jason Webster
"Dark Matter - reading the bones" (speculative fiction from the African Diaspora)
On other news, there was a landslide in the Philippines. Ugh. Luckily, it's far from where my relatives live (but still).
