Since my last real LJ update, nothing really noteworthy has happened in my life. Some stupid shit happened: I turned 23, I played ultimate whenever work didn’t keep me late, and I interviewed for a company that seems to want to recruit me. The only things I can think of, that even come close to being worth talking about are going to my 5 year HS reunion, Otakon, my graduation party, and my trip with Susan to BI. For now all you get to read about is the reunion and Otakon though.
My 5 year was a lot like going to a party where I recognized everyone, but was actually friends with no one. I said hello to just a handful of people, and sadly most of the people I was really interested in seeing were not there. Thankfully JP was there with me, so I had him to hang out with. We also had Alana Gilchrest to hang out with, because everyone she was supposed to be going with flaked out. It was actually pretty ironic, b/c JP and I weren’t friends with her in HS. I guess when you are desperate; you will hang out with anybody. After about an hour and half, the three of us left. JP and I met Tim at Metasin and had a drink or two. JP and Alana exchanged numbers.
Otakon was good. We got in crazy late, but had sweet conjoined rooms on the concierge level. The concierge level means bigger rooms, free breakfast, free hors d'oeuvres, and access to the exclusive concierge lounge. We had an unnecessarily large amount of alcohol in the room; we barely put a dent in it. The con was spent doing con things: looking at the wares of various vendors, walking up to artists that I really admire so I can draw a blank and have nothing to say to them, playing video games in the game room, watching anime, going to the rave, taking pictures for the scavenger hunt, and attending panels and workshops. Actually, this year I didn’t actually get to go to any of the panels or workshops. I really wanted to go to the bukkake workshop, but I was busy drinking in my room and forgot about it. I did however catch the completed episodes of the newly re-mastered Voltron series. In a poor showing, they have only completed the first couple of episodes, so Voltron himself did not make an appearance. This was a banner year for our annual trip b/c there were girls with us for the first time. We had Amy and Kim, along with Tim, Chris C, Lee, Alex, Mat Hew, Lee, and myself. As per usual, we also met up with Chris D and his friends. I would say it was a good time. Lee, Chris D, and I had dinner at Hooters, I do enjoy eating there.
