Raph knelt on the tatami mat in Leo's room. He looked around, a little apprehensive. When Leo had told him that he had something cool to share with him, it had completely baffled him.

It was true that Raphael had been trying extra hard to not fight with Leo lately. They had found some common ground a few months ago when Raph had discovered Leo watching an old samurai movie in Japanese. Raphael had resisted a bit at first, wanting to deny that he could ever have a common interest with his tight-laced brother. However, soon Raphael had become wrapped up in the old Japanese movies as much as Leo was. They would poke fun at the cheesiness of the plots and argue amicably about the plausibility of the martial arts moves. These arguments usually ended in the dojo, with one of them making a fool of themselves while trying to accomplish something seen in the movies.

Raphael remembered the first time he had fallen on his tail trying to perform a double split-kick. He had looked at Leonardo, expecting to be chastised or lectured about exactly what he had done wrong. Instead, Leo had chuckled good-naturedly and offered him a hand up. Somehow, it seemed, they had found an even playing field. When they were together trying to make these goofy movie moves a reality, Raphael no longer was the hothead that needed to be contained, and Leo no longer was the disciplining leader. They were simply brothers, and more importantly, friends.

However, even given their new friendship, this was one of the few times he had been inside Leo's room. It made him nervous.

"I searched all over little Tokyo for these." Leo said, smiling and kneeling across from Raph, placing a small brown bag in between them. He reached into the bag and withdrew 4 small boxes with colorful Japanese text on them. "It's Japanese rice candy! Remember you said you wanted to try some?"

Raphael grinned. It wasn't something bad after all! "Whoa, man. That's awesome." Leo took the box and slipped one of the plastic wrapped candies out into the palm of Raph's hand. Raphael eyed the strange clear candy before unwrapping it and popping it into his mouth.

It tasted papery and dry. Raph made a face and looked at Leo. Leo was smiling as he sucked on his piece of candy. Raph didn't want to start a fight, but the candy was disgusting.

However, Raph was nothing if he wasn't truthful. Raph took a deep breath. "I dunno how you can eat this shit, Leo." Raph said, making a face as he spat the candy out into his hand. It left a papery taste in his mouth, and Raph still could feel the bits of candy flakes in his mouth.

Leonardo started laughing. "Well, Raph, it helps if you take off the wrapper first!"

Author's Note #2: Rice candy has this icky rice paper that wraps it. It supposedly is edible and is supposed to melt in your mouth. However, I think the paper wrapper tastes like ass. :p blech. Also, WHY THE HELL DO THEY WRAP IT TWICE?? 3 times if you count the box... FOUR times if you count the plastic wrap AROUND the box! *grumbles at the Japanese*
