My old iBook G4 has been having some issues for a while. This is one of the reasons that I upgraded to my MBP this year. I contacted apple about the problem and they said "Since it is not something we can confirm over the phone you need to get it confirmed by a technician." No big deal, it just meant that I had to go to MC^2 to have them look at it. They looked at it. It took all of 20 minutes. They confirmed all the problems that I told apple about.
So, now I get to send in my old iBook for service where they will be replacing:
The optical drive
The hard drive
The exhaust/cooling fans and/or main logic board
and something I didn't even comment on because I had been living with it for so long, the screen because it has discolored spots.
Basically, I will be getting back my case with the same ram and airport card and basically a new puter inside.
Sometimes life is just good!
Note: it is generally a bad thing when the heatsink and just inside the main exhaust port break 100 degrees without the cooling fans turning on.
